MATT McARDLE FROM BATH IS A CREATIVE ALL-ROUNDER WHO LIKES NOTHING BETTER THAN TO CONCEPTUALISE, DESIGN AND VISUALISE FOR A WIDE VARIETY OF BUSINESS CLIENTS, AGENCIES AND INDIVIDUALS.
Matt studied at Bournville School of Art and Crafts in Birmingham during the early 1980’s, under the charismatic tutelage of BBC Pebble Mill designers Tony Fisher and Chris Brett. Another major influence was Julijana Zappia of Zappia and Zappia Design Partnership from whom Matt gained valuable commercial experience while still at college.
In the mid ‘80s, Matt co-founded an innovative below-the-line design and advertising partnership with Nigel Beaverstock - Beaverstock, McArdle and Hyams - before enjoying a successful period of freelance and consultancy during the early 1990’s.
A five year period of in-house design work during the transition to computers ultimately led to a long and fruitful time doing freelance web design, until Matt joined up with renowned Bath creative studio, Red Central in the early 2000’s.
Matt is currently based at leading document innovators CFH Docmail heading up their in-house design team.
The thumbnails below represent a (very) small selection of the work I’ve done for various media concerns, large and small. From album covers for local and International musicians, to book jackets for authors and usage concepts for media and property rights companies.
A fair amount of the work shown has been done for agencies and their clients. All reproduction rights belong solely to the respective copyright holders and are displayed here purely as examples of my work.

A mixed assortment of brochure and magazine work, product visuals (utilising my 3D creation skills), logo design and event posters. It’s a case of ‘no job too big, no job too small’. If it’s fun, if there’s a bit of challenge, then I’m right there!
Software used is mainly Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Cararra 3D, though I love messing about with small image creation programs and mobile apps if there’s an interesting effect to be found.

I’ve been interested in shooting and editing video for many years - ever since I first purchased an early JVC Mini-DV consumer camera and a copy of Apple’s Final Cut Pro in fact. Shooting videos for bands led eventually to full-blown website and YouTube channel dedicated to Heavy Metal interviews!
I’ve since shot and edited instructional and corporate video incorporating motion graphics, 3D animation, green screen and motion tracking.
I mainly use Final Cut Pro X and Motion with a variety of third party plugins.
This is place I upload test versions and work in progress. There’s a bit of everything here - it’ll be the place I upload versions of any new videos I work on.
Lots of Metal band video interviews here that I made travelling around the country and Europe with music TV presenter, René Ackermann.
Some videos I have made for the place where I currently work. We have recently kitted out a great little studio to enable us to do more ambitious stuff.
Please send me some means of contacting you, and a short message about your requirements. I’ll get back to you at the earliest opportunity.
